Pfunds is a municipality in the district of Landeck in the Austrian state of Tyrol (Austria). The municipality is part of the judicial district of Landeck. Pfunds is located in the Upper Court, the uppermost section of the Tyrolean Inn Valley, in the border triangle near the borders with Switzerland and Italy.

Culture and sights

The Pfundser Tschey, a high valley at about 1650 meters, is one of the scenic attractions of the region due to its natural beauty and its many haylofts.

The untouched natural and mountain landscapes are probably the most valuable asset around Pfunds.

The Pfunds Holy Sepulchre Brotherhood, founded in 1511, is a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage Site.

Pfunds is a two-season tourism community that belongs to the vacation region Tyrolean Oberland. The community is known for its unspoiled nature, folk festivals and traditional events. With its location in the border area of three countries and cultures, the village looks back on an eventful history and today numerous cultural monuments bear witness to the eventful past.

    Summer: A large hiking area with numerous huts awaits you around Pfunds. Especially popular are the hike to the alpine club hut Hohenzollernhaus, the Radurschlklamm, the Pfundser Tschey and the sunrise hike to the Rauhen Kopf.
    In winter, Pfunds is known for its location in the middle of six ski areas. In addition, cross-country skiing on the high-altitude trail, ski tours, ice skating or ice climbing in the middle of town and a toboggan run are offered. The nearby ski resorts of Samnaun and Nauders can be reached by ski bus.
