Around the largest amethyst deposit in Europe, the Amethyst World Maissau presents itself as a unique world of experience on the subject of gemstones. Discover the world's largest exposed vein of amethyst, one of the most beautiful collections of rare minerals and gemstones in the Gemstone House, as well as the new special exhibition GLANZVOLLES WALDVIERTEL - Gemstones from Lower Austria's Treasure Chamber, which starts in April.

Maissau is an Austrian municipality with 1966 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2022) in the district of Hollabrunn in Lower Austria. Maissau is located at the transition from the Weinviertel to the Waldviertel on the eastern slope of the Manhartsberg.

    Maissau Castle: The castle, which was first mentioned in a document in 1122, is now used privately and can only be visited from the outside.
