Spielberg is a municipality in the district of Murtal in the Austrian state of Styria. The municipality is located in the judicial district of Judenburg. Within the framework of the Styrian municipal structure reform, the municipality of Flatschach was incorporated in 2015. The municipality is located north of the Mur River, in the eastern part of the Aichfeld region, between the towns of Zeltweg and Knittelfeld; part of Spielberg is intergrown with the municipal area of Knittelfeld. Both urban and rural characteristics can be found within the municipal area.

With the return of Formula 1 and numerous major events such as MotoGP, tourism has also gained importance in the region. There are numerous event campsites around the circuit on race weekends, but many homeowners have also begun to expand and add rooms to meet the increasing demand. Since 2021 the tourism association Murtal, is the responsible tourism association, which includes all municipalities of the Murtal. The headquarters of the tourism association is located in Spielberg at the Red Bull Ring.
