Feldkirch
Feldkirch, with 34,998 inhabitants (after Dornbirn), is the second largest city in the Austrian province of Vorarlberg and the seat of the district administration of the administrative district of the same name. Feldkirch is the westernmost municipality in Austria and ranks 13th on the list of cities in Austria by population.
The city is home to numerous institutions, which is why it is also known as the "secret state capital." These include the Feldkirch Regional Court, the Vorarlberg Chamber of Commerce, the Vorarlberg Chamber of Labor, the largest state hospital in Vorarlberg (Landeskrankenhaus Feldkirch), the Vorarlberg State Conservatory, a branch of the Federal Finance Court, and the State Office for Surveying and Geoinformation (LVG). Since 1968, Feldkirch has also been the seat of a bishopric and, since the founding of the Vorarlberg University of Education in 2007, a university town.
