Fontanella is a municipality in the district of Bludenz in the Austrian state of Vorarlberg.

The municipality is located at an average altitude of 1145 m above sea level in the northernmost part of the Great Walser Valley.Fontanella is the highest mountain village of the "Biosphärenpark Großes Walsertal".

Culture and sights

The baroque parish church Fontanella St. Sebastian was built from 1664 to 1673 and enlarged in 1847 and is located in the village Kirchberg.
The chapel of St. Anna in Faschina was built around 1700 as a foundation of Josef Hartmann (later mayor of Vienna).

Regular events

Obergrechter Isamännli (Triathlon): Every year in July, the 'Obergrechter Isamännli' - a triathlon sporting event - starts in Fontanella at Lake Seewald. After a swimming circuit in the lake, the run course takes you to the village center of Fontanella and then by bike to Faschina to the finish line.
