Aschau im Zillertal is a municipality in the Zillertal Valley and belongs to the district of Schwaz in Tyrol (Austria). The municipality is located in the judicial district of Zell am Ziller.Aschau is located at the transition of the front to the rear Zillertal, at a narrow point. It is the only municipality besides Mayrhofen on both sides of the Ziller River. The municipal area consists of the main town of Aschau and scattered hamlets on the mountain slopes and on the valley floor.
