Bizau is a municipality in the district of Bregenz in the Austrian state of Vorarlberg.Bizau is located in the Bregenzerwald, southeast of Lake Constance.

Culture and sights

Catholic Parish Church Bizau St. Valentine: The parish church is located in the church village and dates back to 1472. Over the centuries, the former chapel was expanded into a church and equipped with a bell.
Bildbühl Chapel: The 17th century chapel is located about 750 m from the village center of Bizau on the Bildbühl (710 m above sea level).

Wetzsteinhöhle: The cave is located in the parcel Steinbruch (in the middle of the forest at about 700 m) near the barefoot path in the Bizauer Moos. Below the Wetzstein cave flows the Hüttbach stream.
There is the barefoot path Bizauer Moos, which can be reached from the village. On it, the different types of soil and grasses can be hiked and the habitats of various water plants and aquatic life can be explored in the adjacent streambed of the Ulvenbach.
Hirschbergbahnen Bizau: In 1970 the tourist boom also arrived in Bizau with the construction of the Hirschberg cable cars. At 1436 m a panorama restaurant was planned and built by Leopold Kaufmann. Here, the circular movement associated with the railroad was taken as the basis for the design. In the following years, the Bizauer Schiliftgesellschaft m.b.H. & Co. KG built three more ski lifts and the summer toboggan run. Due to bankruptcy proceedings, the lifts are currently out of operation.
