Wörterberg is a municipality in the district of Güssing in Burgenland in Austria. The Hungarian place name of the municipality is Vörthegy. The municipality is located in southern Burgenland in the northwest of the district of Güssing. Wörterberg is the northernmost village in the district. The municipality consists of the village Wörterberg, the rotten Mitterberg and Wilfingberg and the single vineyard Heiduttischer Ried.

Culture and sights

    Since 1908 a chapel as well as a church (1978).
    An attraction in Wörterberg is the 15-meter-high lookout tower built in 2004, from which one can overlook almost the entire Lafnitz Valley.
    In 2003, a wooden barrel was found on the embankment of the Lafnitz River. It belongs to the few still preserved wooden objects from the Roman imperial period.
    In 2005, a furnace was also uncovered.
