Partenen
Partenen is a village in Montafon, in Vorarlberg, Austria, and locality of the municipality of Gaschurn in the district of Bludenz.Partenen (Rhaeto-Romanic Parthenna), also: Parthennen or Parthenen or Partennen is derived from Partenaea in the sense of: the slowly rising path.
Culture and sights
The curate church of St. Martin was built in 1729 as a branch church of Gaschurn. On April 25, 1800 the church burned down along with most of the village. The vicarage, a wayside shrine and two farmsteads are also protected monuments.
Franz Joseph Rudigier (1811-1884), who was appointed Bishop of Linz by the then Emperor in 1852, was born in Partenen. His birthplace has been renovated and is now a gem of the village.
The Barbara Chapel on the Bielerhöhe is a mountain chapel built by illwerke vkw in the 1960s.
