Dorf Niederthai
Niederthai is a village and a fraction (locality) of the municipality of Umhausen in the district of Imst in Tyrol.
Niederthai is located at about 1540 m above sea level in the Horlachtal (also Hairlachtal), a side valley of the Ötztal in the Stubai Alps, on the Horlachbach stream above the Stuibenfall. The hamlets of Bichl, Lehen and Überfeld as well as the hamlets of Ennebach, Höfle, Sennhof and Tölderboden belong to the village.
Niederthai is known as a snow-sure cross-country skiing center and as a quiet family skiing area. In summer, hikes to the Schweinfurter Hütte, also known as Gubener, or to the side valleys and the surrounding mountains are popular.
The village is mentioned for the first time as "Nidirtaige" already in the years 1130-1145 in connection with Schwaighöfen, which zinsten to the monastery Ottobeuren.
