Bernstein (Hungarian Borostyánk?, Romani Boroshtschaja) is a market town with 2,079 inhabitants in the district of Oberwart in Burgenland in Austria. The village is best known for its castle and the green precious serpentine found there. The name of the village is derived from the Amber Road, a branch of which passed through the Diving Valley as the Via Magna.

Madonnenschlössl (Trutzschlössl): The Madonnenschlössl is a building built around the turn of the century, which is located in the middle of a park. From here you have a good view. The ground floor is built of serpentine. The two upper floors are separated by a wooden beam construction, which shows elaborate carvings. On the roof there are two gargoyles.
