Gemeinde Bad Kleinkirchheim

Bad Kleinkirchheim is a municipality in the district of Spittal an der Drau in Carinthia. Today known as a spa and climatic health resort as well as a ski resort in a valley of the Gurktaler Alps was in the mid-20th century still predominantly rural. Although, according to legend, the first spa guest appreciated Bad Kleinkirchheim as a recreational area as early as the 11th century and the first bathers visited the town in the 17th century, it was only a few decades ago that a drastic structural change away from the agricultural and towards the tourist-oriented Bad Kleinkirchheim began. Today, the community is one of the twenty most visited tourist resorts in Austria, both in the summer and winter seasons.
