Gemeinde Malta

Malta is a municipality and its eponymous capital in the district of Spittal an der Drau in Carinthia. With an area of 261.77 km², the municipality is the second largest in Carinthia (after Wolfsberg). It occupies most of Carinthia's Maltatal valley, which meets the Liesertal valley at Gmünd.

Culture and sights

Tourist attractions include the Kölnbreinsperre dam, the Hohe Tauern National Park, and the many waterfalls that have given the valley the nickname "Valley of the Falling Waters", including the three Göß Falls and the highest waterfall in Carinthia, the Fallbach, which plunges about 200 meters into the Maltatal valley at the Koschach district and can be climbed by the Fallbach via ferrata.

A waterfall in Brandstatt is called ice climbing fall Superfeucht.
