Axams is a municipality in the district of Innsbruck-Land in Tyrol (Austria) with 6193 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2022). The municipality lies in the judicial district of Innsbruck.The municipality is located in the western low mountain range about 10 km southwest of Innsbruck and about 300 m above the valley floor of the Inntal. South of the main village are the Axamer Lizum and the Kalkkögel, which still belong to the municipal area.

Theater performances in Axams go back to the 16th century. The existence of a "Spieltenne" in 1613 is known.

Sport

The Axamer Lizum, which can be reached via a road of about 8 kilometers, was the venue of alpine competitions on the occasion of the Olympic Winter Games in Innsbruck in 1964 and 1976.
